Supporting Better Regulation in Indonesia
The UK and Indonesia continue to strengthen their partnership on better regulation through a series of deep‑dive trainings under the ASEAN‑UK Economic Integration Programme.
In January 2026, the programme expanded its reach by engaging an additional 20 line ministries, building on earlier phases that involved more than 1,600 participants across over 20 Ministries and Agencies (K/L) nationwide.
This latest training was delivered in close partnership with the Ministry of Law, featuring expert speakers from the Directorate General of Legislation and the National Law Development Agency. They shared practical insights on strengthening good regulatory practice across government.
Participants explored practical components of high‑quality Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA), including problem definition, goal setting, identification and analysis of policy options, and the use of analytical tools such as Cost–Benefit Analysis (CBA) and Multi‑Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA).
High‑quality regulation supports a more predictable and transparent policy environment, reduces unnecessary burdens, and helps ensure that policies deliver real benefits for citizens and businesses. By applying these tools, participating ministries are now better equipped to design coherent, targeted, and growth‑enhancing regulations aligned with international good practice and increasingly with OECD‑informed standards.
This collaboration marks another important step forward in advancing Indonesia’s regulatory reform agenda and building a stronger, evidence‑based policymaking culture across government.
We look forward to continuing this partnership and engaging even more institutions committed to improving regulatory quality across Indonesia.
